Harborstone Credit Union - Tacoma, 74th St in Tacoma, WA

I dropped in to inquire about opening a new account and was treated very courteously by a knowledgeable woman and I will be back to open that new account.

I needed a change for a $100 and was told away it can not happen because I did not have an account. I asked for a manager and got the same answer. Everyone was polite. The inability to ask for a change of US currency into smaller bills in a US bank (credit union is a technicality here) .... what a concept! I understand that rules are rules, but at times those either need to make sense or be broken. Poor, extremely poor from Harborstone. Will never deal with this institution.

Well overall it's a fine Union but I had an issue with overdraft fees and they would not help me with one as a courtesy, ever. Even BOA and US Bank have helped me out with one, and I left both of those banks - one to switch to Harborstone. I understand it's not their fault - it is mine for allowing my account to overdraft. But every dollar negative into the bank account they'll take another $30. I was considering convincing my husband to stay with them as they've updated their mobile app to exactly what I've been wanting in a banking application but now I will not and am happy we will be switching when we move.
