LGE Community Credit Union in Woodstock, GA

Good experience with staff and banking. My only complaint is the drive-thru ATM.. that thing is bad.

Dear LGE, My family has been banking with LGE Community Credit Union for sixteen years, since we moved to this country from Puerto Rico. My father, mother, two sisters, brother and I all have multiple accounts here and have always been very satisfied with the service. Today (12/20/16 around 4pm) that changed for us at the Woodstock branch located at 12186 GA-92 #111b, Woodstock, GA 30188--our usual location. My mother went in to deposit a little Christmas check from her parents which she has been depositing like clockwork every year around this time of year as well as mother's day--She has Never had a problem depositing a check from Puerto Rico, as it is a US territory and does not call for international processing or conversion. Upon trying to deposit the check she was told by the manager-on-duty/MOD (a middle-aged white woman of average build with mid-length straightened hair) that it could not be processed at this location. My mother explained that she has always deposited her checks from Puerto Rico at this location and never had a problem. The MOD continued to reject the check with comments implying that the check was fraudulent, or didn't have sufficient funds, or required international processing, etc., and even stated that she could not deposit it because the amount was written in Spanish and she could not read it--mind you, the numerical value remains the same regardless of what language it is written out in, ie. $400=$400.. Her subordinates (a young black gentleman and a young thin blonde girl) all tried helping my mother and tried providing good customer service by calling the Corporate branch to ensure that the Puerto Rican check could be deposited at this location; the Corporate location gave them the thumbs up, stating that the check *Could indeed be deposited at this location. When the gentleman entered the space where the MOD was with my mom to let his MOD know that it was okay to accept the check, he was reprimanded for going behind her back and calling the Corporate location. He also tried to ensure the MOD that the number written out was the same as the numerical value by informing her that he understood what was written in Spanish, and she ignored him still. At this point my mother left the branch, too upset to push the matter any further. Having been employed as a bank teller, I know for a fact there was no reason to not accept that check. It is especially insulting when the Corporate branch tells you that is okay to accept the check and there is reassurance from a spanish-speaking employee that the language barrier is not a problem, and Still the MOD refuses. I've seen this before too many times with my parents, as they both have distinguishable Spanish accents--This was a case backed entirely by racial prejudice, and LGE should not allow such racist people onto their staff, and even more so onto their management team. I am extremely disappointed by this incident, and my entire family is now considering switching banks. *one sour bean ruins the entire pot of coffee, and tends to leave a terrible lingering taste in your mouth.* I commend the tellers for desperately trying to do the right thing, but at the end of the day, this prejudiced MOD would not let them perform to the best of their service capabilities to assist my mother. I insist that LGE take action to reprimand this MOD, as racist incidents are rarely singular, and I am certain we are not the only non-white family to experience anything less than exceptional customer service from this MOD. No one deserves such treatment, and as an industry that relies on excellent customer service for good business, this behavior should not be tolerated. I sincerely hope this matter is resolved in a timely manner for the sake of our future business together. -The Franceschi-Acevedo family.

Huge changes at LGE, they are now charging $20 for a "rush fee" to deliver your online payment faster than 5 business days. The payment does not cost them more but they decide to gouge their "members". When we brought this to the attention of one of the branch workers on Hwy92 but they did not seem to care or want understand more. As a result, we let them know that we would be moving our money. The worker said fine and turned away. We have been "members" for about 6 years and expected more from this CU. They started going down hill several months back when they started charging to use the Publix ATMs and now with this. This CU union is no longer working for it's members and should be avoided.

Seems like a nice branch but the most annoying thing is their ATM seems to refuse to take some checks for no known reason. Really have not had time to check into why that keeps happening. You would think the error log might be a clue that it is not working. The staff is very nice and efficient here.

Worst institution I've ever set foot in. There were no humans (that worked here) to be found. Not to mention, the ATM was out of service. LGE is better than this, go back to traditional banking.
