Kinecta Federal Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, CA

I was in search of a Credit Union because I had had enough of "Big Banks". I called every Kinecta Credit Union and no one would answer the telephone. The whole point of a Credit Union is it is more personal than a Bank. This is a VERY BAD sign.....

No one answers the phone. I thought we were in a recession. there must be people laying around who could answer the phone for you. Not only that, you ruined my weekend by shutting off my card for security reasons. Then when I called to get it turned back on and you told me you did, the card still didn't work. Very unprofessional outfit.

I agree with most of the people who have given the Manhattan Beach Kinecta branch a less that stellar review. Of the 4 Kinecta offices I have visited in the South Bay, the staff at this branch is SLOWER THAN MOLASSES. OMG -- it PAINS me to have to go to this branch because it takes FOREVER to get anything done. Not to mention that their new accounts reps are not the friendliest and the tellers always seem to be under severe stress. Lots a negative vibes at his place. I prefer to drive a few miles further to the Gardena or South Torrance branches; they're smaller, faster and more efficient and the staff and management are so much more pleasant and helpful. The Hawthorne Branch is okay too, but also a little on the slow side. I much prefer Gardena or South Torrance BY FAR.

My experience with Kinect goes back to 1983, when it was Hughes FCU. Since changing to Kinecta, the number of locations has shrunk, it is now necessary to drive miles to a branch. Lately, fraudulent charges to my bank card were not handled well by their phone service staff. I am still waiting for the forms to fill in - meanwhile, I am out the money. The online service is handy, but trying to find a courteous and efficient person on the phone is a thing of the past.

I have been doing business with Kinecta since joining when it was the Hughes FCU. I'm glad that there were no reviews to read when I joined--I would have gone elsewhere. As it turns out the seven reviews that show up are very negative and the very opposite of my thirty plus years experience with Kinecta--all very pleasant dealings. I recently assisted my granddaughter with a car sale--she got a new car delivered to the Manhattan Office, the transaction took minutes, her loan was preapproved, she drove away in a new car that suits her perfectly--no car shopping, none of the shoddy practices that dealers are famous for. Kinecta has financed several home loans for us--all painless. By contrast, we recently bought and sold a residence in the desert through a reputable bank that resulted in a lot of stress that we never experienced with Kinecta. I can't believe that my thirty years of experience with Kinecta is some kind of a pleasant anomaly.
