I would recommend to any one considering using Old Virginia Mortgage to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. This bank ruined my life with their lies, insensitivity, neglect and bullying. And they never closed my mortgage although they want to blame VHDA, at the end of a very stress filled experience, for the problem. But if my loan officer at Old Virginia Mortgage, Joe Harris, had of done some homework - I would have found out that I couldn't qualify for this FHA/VHDA right now due to my financial history. But I didn't hear about that "whoops" until 2 closing dates had passed without another one in sight, I had quit my job to move, everything was packed, and had given my 30 days notice to my apt. complex. Plus everything else was done in readying myself for the move. 3 days before I had to move from my apt. I received a call from Joe Harris saying that VHDA didn't approve the loan. None of what I went through had to happen if my loan officer had obtained easily available information from VHDA. They (Old Virginia Mortgage) chose to ignore my financial history. This not only affected me but all involved with time and money such as my agent, the sellers agent, the seller, the law firm handling the closing, etc. And not one time during my tramatic experience with Old Virginia Mortgage did I hear "sorry for messing up your life". This is just the tip of the iceberg of what I went through but need to get this out there so no one else sucker punched like I did.

After placing our bid on the home the entire Old VA Mortgage team was there supporting us. Every employee in the office was friendly and extremely helpful when it came to turning in documentation for final loan processing. I would highly recommend Old VA Mortgage to anyone who is looking to purchase a home in Hampton Roads area. Their expert knowledge coupled with outstanding professionalism, I will return to them in the future for every home purchase or re-financing needs.
