America First Federal Credit Union in Smithfield, UT

We applied for our loan at the beginning of June 2016, it was not processed until September 2016. This is a ridiculous amount of time especially when someone has outstanding credit. Also the communication between the Mortgage department was awful. They needed new copies of check stubs but instead of letting us know this information they sat on their thumbs for a few weeks until I called to figure out what the problem was. Also had a problem with our insurance but didn't follow up with them until I threatened to take our loan else where. In the mean time we had to re lock our loan because they had gone over the 40 day time frame. At that point the interest rate was lower and they would not let us lock at that after waiting for over a month and half. Now come to find out they don't know how figure out an automatic payment when you give them a voided check. I just can't believe the incompetence of this bank. The in branch employees did everything they could to help, but still they were not knowledgeable enough about the loans. No I would not refer anyone to this Bank Ever.

The staff isn't very engaging most times. While I do like the banking and savings accounts, their mortgage dept. Is a joke. They claim to have the best rates, but they do if you buy down to those rates. And their origination fees are higher 2-3 month closing (60 days on ours). Don't fall for the false advertising... but if you need a good bank, I'd say these guys are about the best I have had.
