Ascend Federal Credit Union in Tullahoma, TN

I had been a member of Ascend (previously AEDC FCU) for over 20 years until I decided a few years ago I'd never live in Tullahoma. Most of my immediate family still lives in Middle TN, so I return pretty regularly. Another reason that helped me call it quits was their somewhat recent overhaul of the organization and facilities. They lost their small business feel and function. What lead me to this review though was dealing with Ascend after my mother just recently died of cancer at the age of 56. My bother and I became joint user on the account after my mother was not physically or mentally able to manager her finances. After alerting them of her death, they rapidly froze the account -- with automatic bill payments pending, including the electric bill. She had a balance on a credit card with them, and after stating we needed that money (which wasn't much) to pay the bills associated with the house, they empty ALL of the money from ALL the accounts associated with her name -- remember, this now is a joint account and could, and did, have other people's money in it. They then proceeded to unfreeze the account and allowed over $180 in overdraft fees to accumulate. They are being very difficult to deal with -- at least at the corporate offices. There's A LOT more to it than this, but if you're looking for a small-town business and for personal treatment, this IS NOT your place!

Great service and friendly help

It's kind of a joke how ungodly rude these people can be. Seriously it's like night and day between this other banks around town. The tellers are usually fine though perhaps a bit uptight but the second rung up people can be insufferable.

My father had his skiing with Ascend long before it was Ascend...his account # was 305, that should tell you how long ago that was. He opened me an account when I was in high school, 30+ years and the partnership has been wonderful!!!! I will keep this account as long as the building stands and I wouldn't trade the service for any other!!!!!!

Always super friendly, great customer service. They do however need to offer Apple pay to their customers.
