Heritage South Community Credit Union in Shelbyville, TN

I started with this CU when I moved to town almost 7 years ago. It was a fine institution where everyone knew my name and I was treated well. The last 3 years have really changed. Not only has the customer service dragged but the way this CU handles checking accounts is abysmal, sneaky, and downright dishonest. I get paid with direct deposit every Friday morning - has for 7 years. Every Friday morning a portion of my paycheck goes into this account to cover checks, loans, and a few incidentals. Each Friday, the outstanding debits are removed from the account in order of larges to smallest before the deposit is entered. One false move could cost hundreds of dollars in fees. I have another bank across town where the remainder of my paycheck goes. This bank will clear debits without fees knowing that my paycheck will be there each Friday. It has only happened to us a couple of times and when it has happened it has been quite costly. A call to customer service usually gets us nowhere. They told us that they have no control over how things are clearing and that it is all controlled by the software. Avoid this CU at all costs - they do not have your best interests at heart and will fee you to death to make a buck.
