We used them as our mortgage company, we had an absolutely horrible experience with the finance guy, he never would return calls or he would call back at 5pm or after to say we needed more info or are waiting on more things, and its just ridiculous this guy! He has made this the worst experience for first time home buyer. Today was the closing date of our home and still he wont answer our emails or phone calls!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS BANK!!!!!!!!!!

Over the past 10 years (since college) I've had a mortgage, seven personal checking accounts, two business checking accounts, and two savings accounts at six other banks. FFL has been (and still is) #1 on my list for over half of that time period. I only wish it wouldn't have taken all the trial and error with the other banks before finding them. The other banks - from best to worst: PNC, 5/3rd, Citizen's Bank, National City, Charter One, and US Bank

Looking for a preapproval mortgage via internet. Have owned/sold one home /sold another (covered remaining mortgage). Got my excellent credit scores & a REJECTION from First Federeal Lakewood (mailed). I am now 64 years old. Defective internet software or age discrimination? (Third Federal S&L also rejected me using internet software but followed up w/ personal emails/phone calls & explained rejection due to "glitch" in software. FYI)

If there was a way to give negative stars for this pathetic excuse for a bank I would. Don't ever use this bank for anything. Withdraw all your money and use any other bank. Hell keep the money under your mattress at least it won't get lost there... My wife and I were pre-approved by several banks and were referred to FFL by friends. We are regretting that decision to this day. After it seemed we filled out and turned in the same paperwork several times it took twice as long to close as we were originally told. Ehhhh not that big of a deal. Three days before we were going to sign papers on the house we were called and told the down payment had been miscalculated by THOUSANDS of dollars because the bank needed more money into the escrow account per a new law or some blah blah blah excuse we were given. Should have raised a few flags that this bank clearly is not good with math... However, we continued to use them. Three days later we are sitting down with the title company to sign papers. We get to the last page and the monthly mortgage payment that we were originally told was off by almost $100. Again math really not the strong suit of this bank. Though the errors always seem to be in their favor. At this point with earnest money down on the house we're going to loose money if we don't sign these papers... So we sign. Again HUGE mistake because the errors didn't stop there. Fast forward to a year later. Our mortgage is raised by $30 a month due to inflation taxes blah blah blah. I find this odd because the reason our down payment went up thousands of dollars was extra money needed in escrow account. How could the 14 months I had to put up front and the $350 dollars a month that goes in the escrow account not be enough? Well being a full times student and working 2 jobs with a little one on the way not much time to call insurances and hunt down the mistakes of this horrible bank. So another year later my insurance company calls me to inform me that our bank has not paid the insurance and FFL's excuse to my insurance company is "oh those customers must have refinanced because we aren't in charge of their escrow" WHAT?! You lost my entire escrow in 2.5 years? So I make some phone calls and find out this bank has been double paying insurance companies for almost two years and was too incompetent to figure out why they're loosing all of our hard earned money! Come to find out I'm not entitled a full refund from the insurance company because the mistake had been happening for over a year. Goodbye $800 dollars. Of course FFL claims it was my fault! Think this horror story is over?! No not yet. We refinance with a far better bank. Whew finally clear of the screw ups that can't count as well as my two year old daughter. JUST KIDDING. Despite every statement given by FFL that our escrow had $1500 in it the only cut me a check for $1300. Over two weeks later the answer I'm given is "Oh it was used for part of the payoff". Really because my new mortgage with a much better bank was the payoff. Still no answer as to why this bank has stolen over $1,000 from myself and my wife.
