Picasso Pawn in Durham, NC

I bought a few things from the Picasso Pawn off of Miami and Hwy 70 in Durham. I wanted to return one thing that I didn't need 2 days later. I had the receipt etc and all that I asked for was an exchange or credit. I was told tough luck, they don't do that. So that's what I get for trying to shop local. Next time do yourself a favor and check Amazon or even Walmart. The used things they sell at Picasso are more expensive then the new version online or down the street. Their jewelery and tools are over priced and poor quality. The customer service is horrible.

So, if you're anything like me you expect a pawn shop to be a place where you can get an exceptionally good price on all kinds of items because they start and a reasonable price and can be negotiated down. Well Picasso Pawn believes in the negotiation aspect, but not at giving their items a reasonable asking price. Most of the items I looked at were priced above market for items of similar condition (I was specifically looking at electronics). Of course they will tell you that the prices are negotiable, but an exceptionally high asking price is not a good place to start bargaining from. For the trouble, you may as well just go to ebay, where you can probably get a more competitive price if you don't mind waiting for it to ship. In the stores defense, they are a very professionally run and very clean pawn shop in a relatively safe area. That's more than you can say for a lot of stores of this kind. The people who work there seem professional and friendly as well. The only issue I take with the place really is their pricing structure.

Overpriced, however helpful staff.

I've given this Pawn shop chance after chance. I have a 100% redemption record there. Today I went in to ask for a $100 loan on my 18k gold that weighed 3.7 grams. The market price of 18k gold is around $32. That's makes my piece worth around $120. That's just the gold price, not the price that they could sell it for. Plus, I've never let anything forfeit. The manager's response was, you might get hit my a bus. Needless to say, this is the last chance I can stand to give this pawn shop, as I've had similar experiences in the past with low ball offers. It's called customer service and this place is certainly lacking. Go to any other pawn shop, you're guaranteed to get more for your items.
