OneMain Financial in Laurel, MD

I received a pre-selected letter in the mail from Citi Financial, so I applied online for a personal loan. It said that I was "conditionally approved," and said to call the local branch office. I called the Laurel office and had to repeat about 80% of the information that I entered online. Somehow, this information was not forwarded to the local branch. After giving information, holding, giving information, holding, etc., I was finally approved for a certain amount. We discussed details as to which loans/credit cards could be consolidated, etc. I set up an appointment to show up at the local branch the same day with all of the necessary paperwork (paystub, rental lease, id, blank check). After waiting for about an hour and a half, I was told that my application was rejected. I was given some vague explanation about how maybe the online credit check was not thorough, and once the full credit check was done the score was sufficient. So, after applying online (because of the pre-selected letter that I received), making a phone call in which I supplied a great deal of personal information, showing up to my appointment with all the necessary documents, I was sent on my way without the personal loan (this was a small loan). What really irks me is that I was conditionally approved online, was approved by phone and then rejected in person. If the online application had been declined, I would have saved over 3 hours of m time that day. I will not do business with Citi in the future.
