Mariner Finance in Laurel, MD

Would give 0 stars if I could. Absolute HORRIBLE company. Knows its customers hate them and doesn't care. Don't let them steal your money. Their website is a complete joke and full of bugs. When it causes you to miss a payment, it's YOUR fault. Again, DO NOT trust this company. DO NOT trust this company.

Their tactics are pretty aggressive. Continuous calls asking for me to extend my loan or take a new one. Sure the interest rate will be lower, but with the longer loan term you'll be paying more. I'd rather live on what I can really afford and work toward having savings. If you need a loan, they can provide it so there are advantages here. Set up a payment plan. Pay it off. Wouldn't use them again.

I've gotten 2 loans through them. The first of which they financed my bedroom set through a furniture company. Paid it off and had no issues. The second loan was to help pay for me wedding. Once again, paying it off with no issues. Do what you are supposed to do and there's no problem. I haven't used their website to make payments, I just call and eat the $5 charge but it's worth it vs a late fee IF their site is bad. I've never had a problem with any of their staff and I've met at least 4 to 5 of them throughout the years.

Pros: the staff are friendly and courteous, especially over the phone. Cons: * The account history is not completely available online. * The online site is not directly managed by Mariner finance. * The online site states that you owe a certain balance, you will pay that and then, after you've paid and paid the $2 service charge, you'll get another charge posted, showing the interest. Where was the payoff balance? Not shown to you online. * They will send you a letter with a due date, but if this due date falls on a weekend, guess what? Your payment is automatically late even if you pay online by the due date. The 2 stars out of 5 are only there because the staff were 5/5 courteous and friendly. Everything else about this company is a loss. Go to your local credit union or even megacorp bank first.
