North Cambridge Co-Operative Bank in Cambridge, MA

Went here after I sold our car, I had a bank check from North Cambridge Co Operative Bank in Cambridge, they said they didn't want to cash it. It was a little over $10,000 and I had all my IDs with me. I asked if it was their policy because I didn't have an account there, they said they just didn't want to. I asked for some kind of reason and/or proof since it was their own check. A woman named Debbie came out and was really rude, made several snide comments while looking for any paperwork to uphold the made up policy. I couldn't believe it. Then the president, Michael G. Culhane came out, he said he didn't care if I had ID, he said he had fake ID's when he was young (and now he's running a bank, that's comforting, I'm also 41 and no kid). He said he had no way of knowing if I was lying about who I was, with all my ID's, license, credit cards, marriage certificate, passport... I mean really.... What a joke. Anyway, this was a very bad time and bad customer service overall. I wouldn't send anyone there. They really are unprofessional and unpleasant. Frankly, I could understand if they said it was their policy but it clearly wasn't.

The workers are very efficient, friendly yet business like. It's a neighborhood bank so they treat u like family. I also appreciate their speed and knowledge or at least know who to ask opposed to sending u on a wild goose chase like the larger banks do where u r just a number not a face. They try their best to accommodate ur needs and explain why with genuine concern why they can't do something or a specific thing isnt offered. Behind the scenes ..Linda and Debbie are very on top of who is who and what is what and no matter which teller I go to I'm not disappointed
