Huntington Bank in Aurora, IL

Vice President Branch Manager, Charity Smith, opened our accounts and automatically (opted us in), which resulted in 7 overdraft charges totaling $245.00, for being overdrawn less than 24 hours. Had we been (opted out), which law states all new accounts must be unless attached to a credit card or another account, 5 of the charges would have been denied. When Ms. Smith was asked what could be done she stated "nothing, even had I opted you out you would still be charged". Such was not the case when I called their 1-888 #, they informed me that was not correct and reversed 5 of the charges. Thank you Firstmerit! $175.00 is a huge deal to someone unemployed. Oh and it was nice to read in today's newspaper that Firstmerit's profit jumped 9% in their third quarter. I wonder how that may have happened...

Helpful, friendly, and professional staff. It's a pleasure doing business at this branch, I just wish they had more locations.
