American Savings Bank in Kihei, HI

Hawaii is supposed to be a friendly place full of aloha and care. I mostly find this to be true, except for when I visit this particular kihei branch and get a specific teller. Everytime she helps her out-of-state customers (or those she thinks "don't belong here in HI") she is rude and demeaning. She seems to be busy or preoccupied and not at all happy to see you when she calls out "next" and when she looks up at you, from whatever she is doing, she is very judgmental in her facial expressions. She makes a banking transaction and or question difficult and unenjoyable. She should find another job where customer service doesn't matter. The bank itself I don't have trouble with but I personally try hard now to never go to this branch....I do not like being treated in this manner. This teller does not deserve her job. If she was to be "let go", I would consider entering that branch again - until then I don't even want to go near it as she makes me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome here in HI - how sad is that!! That being said, I enjoy very much visiting the Walmart, Kahului branch. I am always greeted with a smile there and encouraged when I leave. Banking transactions are pleasant and made with ease because the tellers there know how to treat their customers. I always leave with a bigger smile on my face than when I arrived -- MAHALO to them for their great customer service and appreciation. I will go there anyday of the week just to say "hi" - Now that is true Aloha!!

So far......my experience doing business at the Kihei Branch, with several different tellers and the New Accounts agent - has been excellent. The tellers are courteous, knowledgeable of the bank's services, and very pleasant. Perhaps the staff and management got wind of the negative review posted by "Alex" six months ago, and made some positive changes.

I love this bank & every teller at the Kihei Branch have been very kind & professional. I moved back to the mainland & banked with Chase & the day I walked in to close that account with chase was a happy day! I returned to Maui & reopened with ASB Kihei. the tellers remembered us after 4 years and welcomed us back!

Excellent location and very professional staff. Jason Salmo assisted me with opening a checking and savings account, beyond friendly and professional. Normally, becoming a member of a bank isn't a big deal or experience but not in this case. I'm very happy with my choice and the bank.
