OneMain Financial in Alpharetta, GA

I had switched jobs as a finance manager and needed a few dollars to get me through the month until I was able to get my paycheck. I applied for the loan through Springleaf, was approved, and was contacted by Regina Campos Medrano. When discussing the terms of the loan, I specifically asked her if it was a simple interest loan, and she said it was. Then she tried to slide additional products into the deal such as life insurance. At no point did she say it was optional coverage, nor did she present me a base payment. Thankfully, I knew what was going on and told her to take the coverage out. My payment went down $20 from what she originally quoted me. I received my first statement, and my balance had increased by 40%! When I called Regina and inquired about the charge, she explained the interest was incorporated into the balance. THAT IS NOT A SIMPLE INTEREST LOAN!!!!!! She explained if I paid it off early, the balance would reflect that. Regardless, this is not a simple interest loan and Regina flat out lied. This is my second bad experience with Springleaf. The first was to buy a car and they put in roadside assistance without telling me. They hurried me through the paperwork because it was after closing hours, and I didn't read the fine print. That is my fault, so I didn't complain. Shame on me. The people at Springleaf will try to screw you over if you're not paying attention. Had I not known better, I would have been paying and extra $720 for something I didn't need. Check your contracts, people. Make sure you signed for exactly what you thought you were. Anything above and beyond the money you applied for does not need to be included. Cancel it!
