Everything written is true. I have never wrote a review but had to write one for this awful experience. No one knows what they are talking about and they tell you different things when talking to customer service. At the end of the day you can't do anything about it. Trying to refinance and get out of this pile of dump company.

Avoid this company at all costs. I am a real estate investor and there are MUCH BETTER lenders out there. I would give them negative starts if possible. Here are just a few of the rediculous things I had to deal with when getting a loan. First, the appraisal came in and they specifically manipulated the appraiser to rework the appraisal to a lower value. This should be illegal but who knows. Secondly, they kept asking for erroneous information well after I submitted everything and my close date came and went. Thankfully I was dealing with a reasonable seller otherwise I would have lost my deposit. We didn't close until TWO WEEKS after the closing date. They took days to review simple items. RUN, do not walk in the opposite direction of this lender.

During a recent refi with Sterns, I made a payment on my mortgage before being notified the loan had been approved. I have been trying ever since to get my payment refunded. Spoke with 6 different agents, got six different answers. All lies!!! I am seeking another company that has some business sense and professional customer service!

It's unfortunate that you have to leave at least one star on a review. If I could select NO STARS, I would have. I have purchased several investment homes over the last few years and have had wonderful experiences with every loan servicing company until we landed with Stearns. What a horrendous experience. To top off the already frustrating customer service (or lack of) they've just increased our mortgage payment because of an escrow issue. Should you have read the reviews below, this should sound familiar. They somehow underestimated our escrow account and are now needing to charge us an addition $400 dollars. We purchased our home in November and it is now nearly July. It took you 9 months to realize that things were wrong? Hard to believe. We will be leaving Stearns lending as soon as possible if this situation is not corrected to my satisfaction. Horrible mortgage provider.

They are shaded lenders who use illegal practices. I suggest you use a real lender. These guys are scum.
