Went to cash a check for a car I had just sold. The check from the "other guy"'s credit union named both me AND "other guy" as the payee. The US Bank rep told me I needed a joint account to deposit the check to. I'm like, this "other guy" is a random dude off craigslist, we're never going to get a joint account. He asked the manager, who confirmed, I couldn't even deposit the check into my account, even though "other guy" had already endorsed the check on the seller line on the back. Anyway, luckily I also have an account at Chase, two blocks away. They deposited the check no problem. I feel like this problem is somewhat specific to this branch, as I've never had any similar problem from the other branches I commonly use.
