I have been a customer of MANY banks in my 30 years of life and have been continuously impressed with FirstMerit. We have my husband's auto loan through this institution -- before that I didn't even know who they were. Not only were they able to get us a great rate even though we have poor credit, but they are professional, competent, always pleasant to deal with and all around a really great bank to work with. Compared to my experiences with PNC, I'm delighted by how attentive FirstMerit has been in the customer service department. Nobody has ever gotten rude or unpleasant with me, even when I'm frustrated or snippy. We even opened a checking account with them as a result of being so pleased with the service. It's really nice to be treated respectfully and with professionalism by bank customer service -- and a rarity with other banks these days!
