It's a shame that you don't get to select your student loan 'servicer'. Essentially, these guys are good at selling to the government, and then don't really care if you like them or not as their customer. My loan was transferred to Great Lakes, and the handover was sloppy. I was charged fines, wasn't able to get that money back. I also don't like that they compare your accrued interest versus your total loan amount. Yeah, you've only charged me 1% of the total loan amount, but each month when I pay you that resets to 0% because you pay interest fees first. I'm not stupid, I know that you're actually charging me an ungodly amount of money over the course of the loan. I will have probably paid this company $10-20,000 by the time I terminate my loans with them, and I don't think they've earned any of it.

When attempting to pay off my loan outright, they made the process very slow and difficult. Meanwhile, while I'm frustrated and waiting days for customer service to call me back, they continue to make profit off of my ridiculously high interest rate.

Very disappointed with this company-and how debt is handled by student loan providers with the D. of Ed. in general. I am attempting to pay back debt as quickly as possible, yet there are several "rules" set up to insure in my opinion, that quickly paying off loans is not a possibility and providers can make more on interest during the course of my loan. Wish that they had my best interest in how they apply my payments, and not their own. Once I make minimum payments on my loans, I should be able to apply my payments wherever I want.
