BB&T Bank in Radford, VA

Opened a student checking account (supposedly free) only to find out later in the VERY fine print that simply downloading transactions through Quicken incurs a $5.95 per month fee. So much for free student checking. We are moving our business elsewhere.

This specific BB&T branch will tow it's own customers.

AVOID this bank at all costs!! A quick run down of all the issues I had when I dealt with them: -Told me I had $2000 in overdraft protection. Used my card thinking I had this $2000 overdraft protection, only to find out I NEVER got it! -Due to the above incident, they tried to charge me over $600 in overdraft fees. I REFUSED to pay for it and even proved they had promised me the overdraft protection that was NEVER put through. Their reply was to offer to pay HALF the overdraft fee. I refused and told them to take me to court if needed. -Since I had the overdraft charges, they REFUSED to put money in my account. Every time I tried to cash my paycheck, they tried to take it to pay for the fees to the point I had to start using Wal-Mart to cash my checks. -Cashier tried to steal my paycheck at one point by pocketing my check and refusing to give it back. When I threatened to call the cops and parked in the drive-thru, she crumpled my check up and threw it into the bin to return it to me. -Began SLOWLY paying the overdraft fees by paying $1-2 at a time. After making a $5 payment, they CLOSED my account (without my permission), called me at work, and told me I owed them $100 for closing the account with fees still on it. When asked why the account was closed when I'd JUST put a $5 payment towards the fees they claimed I owed, without my authorization, and questioned if the $5 was going to be put towards this so-called "closing fee" they claimed I owed, got no response. Hung up the phone and never heard from them again. -Hubby had a similar issues as well. Both of us have since moved our accounts to other banks/credit unions and NEVER had any issues. AVOID this place at all costs! They will manipulate you, lie, and do everything they can to get your money without doing anything to help you or take responsibility for their mistakes! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
