Beware - Incompetent at best, sleazy and dishonest at worst TL;DR Short version: The seller seems to have intentionally tampered with and withheld information about the car in order to sell it. Long detailed version: I bought a repossessed car from these guys; here is my experience: I found an ad for a car for sale on KSL classifieds. The car was listed as "For Sale By Owner." This was the first red flag. When I met with the guy, the place the car was at is called "Fast Lane Auto Brokers." This is not even listed on Google (I am sure this is intentional) but the address is 1321 Jefferson St Salt Lake City, UT 84115. I drove the car around and saw a handful of obvious problems. The guy I was getting it from said that he took it to a mechanic and listed off the problems that the mechanic had found and said it would be a few hundred dollars to get fixed. Like a fool, I believed him and bought the car. I took it to the mechanic after I bought it and found out that there were a lot more obvious problems that any mechanic would have noticed and the seller obviously intentionally didn't tell me. (nearly $2000 later, there are still a handful of problems left) The biggest problem is that it seems very likely that the car was tampered with in order for it to seem better than it actually is. Someone (most likely the mechanic this guy took it to) took out the airbag light so that I would not know that there is a problem with the airbag. I realize there is the possibility that the seller just took this to a really incompetent mechanic to get it tested, but there is so much wrong with it that was never caught that I don't feel that is very likely. Moral of the story: don't buy a car from a shady loan company.
