Harris County Federal Credit Union in Houston, TX

Halfway decent bank, but the guy I went through had preconceived notions about the lower/working class that didn't sit well with me, so I cancelled my account.

In dealing with this credit union, I find they're lacking in three things. First, customer service is not a priority. The staff have a sit and wait mentality. They think of themselves more as clerks at the Driver License Office. It also seems to be an organization run on old technology. The web site, the process to apply for a loan, online banking, etc. seem antiquated. I applied for a loan and three days later I got a voice message from a rep. I called back to leave a message but never heard back. The rates they were advertising for savings account are lower than what you can get at a commercial bank. The rates on car loans are not much better than a bank, and I figured if you have to play phone tag, better to deal with a bank.

HCFCU is a credit union that is willing to help. The big banks and other credit union fall short in comparison to their superior customer service. I would recommend this credit union over any other credit union in Houston.

I've banked here 20+ years. That outa count for something. They offer better rates than other banks. Unfortunately there is only 1 location and only available to Harris County employees, family members and retired HC employees.

Horrible experience throughout the years of banking here. Staff has treated my husband & I like complete garbage. Never any answers, they just give you the run around. If you value your time, don't bank here. They don't care about people just accounts. If you shop around, there are much better rates out there.
