When I needed a loan and was in a really bad bind the last place I wanted to go was title loan company. Unfortunately that was one of my only options. To my surprise I was treated very well by CTL. I knew what I was getting into with the contract and in and of itself over the past few months has never been an issue even though the interest is so high and I feel the loan is a bit predatory. It was however my choice to do it or not. Today I called to get a payoff so I can get out of the high interest and take my vehicle title back over. The initial rep on the phone was nice but could not provide consistent numbers for payoff and gave me a payoff that I felt I could possibly just do in one lump sum. Then when I asked to verify the exact payoff for the next day the Branch Manager came on the phone and said the loan payoff would be an amount that was 400 or so bucks higher than the initial representative told me just minutes earlier. Of course now I am a bit puzzled and start questioning the manager. She kept talking over me, said she could not provide an additional figures for payoffs or break down the interest in a way that was understandable because it is not in her system that way. I expressed I had never worked with a financial institution that could not provide figures and exact payoffs or estimates. She then got fairly hateful and said she did have to be abused by me on the phone and that she just works there. Honestly I was just asking for payoffs and a breakdown and do not see how that was abusive so I asked to speak to manager higher than her and she stated she is the Branch Manager. When I asked her name she would not provide it. I also requested a corporate phone number and her name again... she said she would provide the number but not her name. I said okay I will tell corporate I spoke to a branch manager with no name and then she rudely hung up. I tried several times to call back for the number but kept being transferred to voicemail. I cannot even make the payment I need to make by phone because they won't pick up for me. My son called and asked for the corporate number and they not only answered but gave him the number. Shame on me for ever getting involved with a title loan company in the first place but also shame on CTL and associates for treating it's customers in manner which affirms why not to deal with an organization with this type of lending. I will be calling corporate and placing a formal complaint. I have no confidence that anything will be done. I also will make sure the remainder of this loan is paid off within the next 30 days. I WILL NEVER use CTL again or any other title loan company for that matter. Lesson learned!
