My fiance went in to cash his paycheck. He watched 3 white people in front of him wearing hats take care of their business, then when it was my fiance's turn, the woman Manager asked him to please remove his hat. My fiance said, I don't mind removing my hat, but can you tell me why nobody else had to remove their hats? She said, Oh, I'm sorry, I must have forget to remind them about their hats. So he gets his check cashed, and when he goes to leave he watches another white guy with a hat on conduct his business WITH his hat on. Avoid this bank like the plague, especially if you're not white.

the people at this branch suck 100% of the time. I tried to get added to a business account there over 2 years ago. The woman gave me the wrong information twice, regarding material I would need to be added to the account. Finally I was added to the account and tried to get a debit card issued in my name. I gave them a P.O. Box to send the card to, when the card didn't come in the mail I went to the branch and they told me that they don't deliver debit cards to P.O. Boxes. They could have told me that when I gave them the address in the first place. I had the card delivered to the branch and when I went to pick it up the woman locked it in her desk and went home. Unacceptable. After 2 years of dealing with that kind of incompetence, not being able to ever find my name on the account, giving me the wrong info I decided to switch banks. I set up an account with U.S. Bank. When I went to close my account with Key Bank again the idiots at the Morrison branch could not find me on the account. So I had to go to the Multnomah Village branch with our old treasurer (she was still on the account) to close the account. That branch had no problem finding me on the account and I did not need to have the Treasurer there at all. So not only was that a waste of my time, but hers as well. Thinking that I successfully closed my accounts, I just received a statement in the mail from key bank. They are charging me a $15 service fee every month for the past two months. These idiots can't even close an account correctly. I did go to the head branch down town. Hopefully they can take care of this situation and successfully close my account. I just want to never step foot in a key bank ever again.

I had some similar experiences, to ones mentioned below, in Seattle: with HUGE EXCEPTIONS, for Omar Garcia, E Morrison Branch, Portland, OR. & Tiffany Mitchell in St. Louis. They were terrific. I only had to give my information ONE time. They asked "spot on questions & got me to the right people. But in the meantime, the most ineffective teller/phone folks were of no good service what-so-ever. These people do not belong in banking as they clearly do not "love it". I have been nearly four hours on the phone, trying to get an account set up down here in Tucson with a different BANK, of course, because no KEY BANKS are here? This would not have happened, if the people running the bank in Seattle, (Madison Park) knew that there were no KEY banks in Tucson. The internet is wrong about where your branches are too. It says that there is a KEY in Tucson!! I have recently moved from Seattle, so I have needed to move money and it is a HUGE deal (one would think????)..(but not really)!! Because (part of) this money was inherited from my younger sister. She is no longer with us, so her information is deleted from the KB system. Her husband has also sold the house (has a different last name) and he has moved to California. He is a co-beneficiary & I do not know his address. SO!!!!!!! Also my SS check is direct deposit to KEY. What to do? What to do? The Retirement People ARE GONE HOME now: I must call back tomorrow after 8:00 a.m. SERIOUSLY, this bank needs some HELP. (((I do hope I get an effective person (as far as banking is concerned) TOMORROW))). Your management folks need to get ducks in row & the FIRST thing I would do were I you is to ONLY hire folks who LOVE banking. Sincerely: Marcia: Tucson, Arizona.

Kicking myself. We had a jaw droppingly dismal customer service experience through a re-fi on our home. We went to pull the plug on the re-fi when the bank manager (Lloyd branch) stepped in with promises to personally manage the remainder of the process and to take full accountability. She did. Just long enough for us to finish our re-fi with Key and transfer all our personal checking and savings accounts as well as our mortgage. Foolish us. In the subsequent 5 months we've had multiple service failures. A rash of small checks bounced in our 'platinum, overdraft protected' checking account with over $15k in our savings account. After a call and an email and a week passing, the manager assured me the problem was fixed.A week later, another 3 checks bounce (very embarrassing). Now it's been 3 weeks trying to get bank manager to reverse THEIR NSF fees, cover the NSF fees we've paid for impacted parties, and mainly- reassure me that it will never happen again. I'm still waiting. Promises to 'get right back' slip by the way side. My husband also has his business accounts with Key. He needed and qualified for an extension of his line of credit. He's been waiting 3 weeks now for manager to communicate definitively the status of the accounts. He's stuck now in a holding pattern and is amazed at the lack of follow through. His business is growing rapidly and with just reasonable customer service, Key could have had a strong, local small business account. Instead, he has begun shopping for a new bank, will not extend his credit with Key and will move his business elsewhere. By reading reviews, combined with our year long history with Key (and through several managers/staff), it's clear that this is a systemic problem. Take your accounts elsewhere.
