Review KeyBank

Banks should be good at book keeping and keeping accounts straight, or at least that is my basic assumption. Hand them your debit card, punch in your pin, and up should pop the right account, right? At Key, think again. At Key, they cannot even get the basics of banking right. Key: 1) Pulls up my PERSONAL account (which is not and nver should be associated with my business account, which has its own tax id, tax status, and address) EVERY time I try to deposit a check into my BUSINESS account. If I start putting business checks into my personal account not only would I mess up our accounting, I could wind up in PRISON. I tell them every time that this is wrong. They have NEVER been able to fix it, and frankly don't seem inclined to. We are closing our accounts on Monday over this issue. My debit card even has my company name on the front of it. Do they provide the same access to personal accounts to business partners and others with corporate debit cards? This should have been a simple issue of straight forward bookkeeping. Leave it up to Key to screw it up. 2) When I try to deposit personal checks, they can't find my account at all. Then, of course, they realize that maybe, as I told them in the first place (having been through this 15 times before), it was opened in another state. Yeah, we moved here from Ohio four years ago, and they still have not converted our account to one that would have been easy to use here in this area, despite our having brought it up to them time after time before. They just have no initiative to get things right at Key. It is seriously the worst bank ever when it comes to getting even the basics of banking right. 3) When I try to log on to their website to conduct online banking tasks, their system is cumbersome and unhelpful that it drives me absolutely stark raving mad. In fact, every time I try to log on I have to call because they do not allow standard, high security, passwords (for instance those that include special characters), and you cannot reuse the same password for a cycle of 13 passwords. I don't know about you, but I don't have 12 passwords to cycle through. As a result (as well as a result of my refusal to write down the password), if and when I want to log on I have to try to find some variation on a password I will invariably forget a month later. Had I been able to use my standard, higher security, password, this would not have been a problem, but it now makes it virtually impossible to get on line. This is the second reason we are closing our accounts on Monday. In the end, I cannot find even a single good thing I want to say about Key. In fact, collectively, to all of you at Key Bank: here is one great big F-YOU! I HATE YOU - AND I HATE YOUR BANK.

I completely agree with what the other customer said about the stupidity of the tellers with regards to accessing business vs. personal accounts. I made a substantial withdrawal this morning from my business account to pay for some business related expenses only to discover later that the funds had been withdrawn from my personal account. HOW?? I gave the teller ONLY my business debit card, of course assuming the funds would be withdrawn from that account, and anyway was not asked which account I preferred the funds withdrawn from. Luckily, I noticed the teller's mistake later the same day, as I have all my tax payment checks out in the mail, just waiting to bounce thanks to that bank error! I would never have thought this was even possible and have been banking with Key since 2007 and had nothing but great experience with any other branch. This one must be doubling as a day-care facility or something... what a joke. Avoid this branch for any serious banking needs.
