The majority of employees have no clue about anything beyond how to do the most simple and common transactions. Things they have no idea how to do include: conversion of IRA types, when transactions are taxable, and how to deal with a beneficiary IRA. There is one person they can schedule you to talk to who knows about more than depositing a check, but she is booked more often than not, and usually just recommends you buy government bonds.
