Review U.S. Bank Branch

The bank manager is rude and unwilling to help. She also needs a serious lesson in customer service and proper interactive response. She thrives on taking credit for things she did not partake in instead of giving credit to those managed by her. Gaylan was fantastic he offered empathy and understanding and mostly a solution that worked. Had the bank manager not inserted herself into my situation after being asked repeatedly to go away because I was already being assisted the bank would have been a little better.

My General Contractor had written me a check for reimbursement of renovation expenses. He is a US Bank customer and so am I. I brought the first check to this branch to cash. The tellers called the account owner to verify it was ok. They asked me to give them a heads up the next time I want to cash a large check so they can be sure they have enough cash on hand. Brenda, the manager, was not there. I went there another day to give them a heads up that I would be coming to cash a large check. Brenda started asking me all kinds of personal questions about what the check was for and why I wasn't just depositing it. I answered all of her questions. She pulled up the check holders account and tells me there is not enough funds in it to cover the check. I had already told her I was coming back in a day or two when his deposit FROM A MORTGAGE COMPANY had cleared and the funds were available. She tells me she can't be sure the money will be there when I come back and she feels that his deposit needed to sit there for several days AFTER IT CLEARS before SHE would feel comfortable cashing my check. What?? Then she tells me that she doesn't know if she will have that much money anyway. She insists that I deposit the check and wait for it to clear. I said "I feel like for whatever reason, you PERSONALLY just don't want to help me." She just sat there looking at me. She just continued on with her excuses. I went to US Bank on Brice Rd with my check, after my contractor verified that he had funds. I told them what had happened with Brenda. The teller at Brice Rd apologized for Brenda's behavior and told me that should never have happened. She told me I was doing the right thing. The bank manager on Brice Rd also apologized for Brenda's behavior. They called my contractor and verified that he wrote the check and knew I was cashing it. However, they were running low on cash and didn't want to give me that much. They were upset that this could have been avoided if Brenda had taken the necessary measures to ensure the branch had enough cash. They called all the surrounding branches to find one with enough cash. No one had enough. As a last resort, the teller called Brenda to see if their branch had enough money. She didn't even get to say who I was before Brenda was saying "That's Jessica, isn't it??" and she goes on some rant about me. After several minutes, Brenda says they don't have enough cash. So the teller hangs up in obvious annoyance. She has a talk with her manager and says to me "I am so sorry that you have been treated like this. We are just going to go ahead and cash your check for you anyway. We don't want you to have to jump through any more hoops." So they went out of their way to give me some of their reserves. Then, I went to this branch to cash my grandma's pension check, as I have ALWAYS done. I am a POA on her account, to do her banking for her as she is 85 years old. Brenda decides that she is going to step in and tell me that I cannot cash her check because I am not my grandma. I said "but I have POA for this very reason. My name is on the account as POA." She tells me she doesn't personally have my POA on file so she will not cash it. I said "but I wouldn't be listed on the account as a POA if US Bank did not have the POA document." She refused to cash the check. I finally said "forget it... I will take it to Huntington!" I called this branch today to get a copy of a check we had cashed there back in February. Brenda answers the phone. I told her who I was and that I needed a copy of the widow's pension check we had cashed in February. Mind you, this is the same type of check she refused to cash this month. She asks me if I have the check number or know exactly what day I cashed it. I told her no. She then tells me she will not help me unless I give her that information. That it would be too much work for her to try to find the copy of the check for me. I have been banking long enough to know that this woman is on a power trip and just making things up to suit her own urges and paranoia.
