My suggestion for mortgage seekers is to not use Debbie and Bruce Lublin/Homemerica for your mortgage. They sound great and confident on the phone and they instruct you to trust them, but the truth is, they are nothing more than paper pushers with bad business etiquette They have really good contacts with the banks and companies with questionable business practices. After pressing them, you may be able to get them to contact a local bank. They promised us a week turn around on our paperwork, but after that, radio silence. They eventually told us they could not help us. In our case, they knew that the bank had decided not to finance three weeks before they told us. When we confronted them about why we were not informed, their answer was that they we didn’t want to upset us. The reason for the bank denial, our co-op’s mortgage was going to ballon sooner than this particular bank allows. Debbie would have known this if she had done her due diligence before sending in our application. Debbie is a screw up and asks her Dad, Bruce to fill in when she messes things up. He sounds experienced, but he is just as bad as his daughter. His words to me on the phone, “You will not regret working with us”. Unfortunately, I do. It cost me about $7000. Rather than acknowledging their mistakes and offering to pay for damages (the additional appraisal we had to have), they told us the best they could do is put our application in front of another bank and we would have to incur the charges all over again. You don’t need a paper pusher to go in front of Quicken Loans. Call them one time and they will be happy to bug you for the rest of your life. Try it before you go to the Lublins.
