People's United Bank in Scarsdale, NY

It's clear that higher management wants this to be a friendly, pleasant banking experience -- hence the name, the freebies which include computer (stocks) access, comfortable chairs, newspaper, coffee and tea. This is all very nice, but the concept of friendliness or customer service has not quite percolated down to the local staff, at least at this branch. Even if you are a regular customer, they will not take your phone calls or help you out on the phone. Additionally, they are generally abrupt and not very helpful in person as well (with a couple of notable exceptions). Furthermore, they seem to keep a jealous eye on coffee consumption and have been known to make comments if they feel you are drinking too much of their free coffee! So overall this is a good bank experience that could be an excellent experience if they would embrace the concept of customer service.

Offered free non-bank ATM withdraws, 1 month later discontinued the offer without a notice and charged for all non-bank ATM withdraws. Dubious charges for certain online transactions without a notice.

I work here and we are very friendly, efficient and provide fast service

They provide a service with no upkeep on their coin counting machine and lie about whether or not it's in working order. Used the machine one day and after I was done I was asked to display their out of order sign. Was working fine after my use. It seems as though they don't want to be bothered.
