Charles Schwab Bank in Reno, NV

this isn't a bank it's a joke. i don't think they have any $$$. refused to cash a check drawn on charles schwab. told me i'd have to bring in the person who wrote the check to cash it, because that's the law. b of a, chase, bank one, wells fargo, us bank, + several smaller banks have always cashed checks for me drawn from their own bank without having to bring in the person who wrote the check. so these people lie to cover the fact that they call themselves a bank even though they refuse to provide basic banking services. if you enjoy being lied to, this is the bank for you.

Folks, this is Schwab Bank. It is awesome -- best service and low fees. But it does not really have many branches -- mostly online or via ATM. Some people can get a bit confused about what this bank is and does. But highly recommended.

Great bank if you're into no fees, free ATMs anywhere in the world, 24 hour US-based customer support, investment management services in addition to a high yielding checking account, and understand the concept of online banking. Reno just happens to have one of the only bona-fide brick and mortar branches in the United States, although you can make deposits at Schwab investment branches as well. The tellers are professional, knowledgeable, and there is free hard candy. I am not affiliated with Charles Schwab, but I have brought over a dozen people to this bank.

I like using this bank for the simple reason that you can access any ATM in the world without having to pay a transaction fee. YOU will have to open a brokerage account with them, but you don't have to actually put money in it. You will have to do all of your banking online as they do not have many branches. Like I say, you can use any ATM and get cash without paying a fee and that is why I like them.
