VERY incompetent lenders. Loan officers will fail to order appraisals until the week before closing, and then ask for an extension. Then, they'll go on vacation without finishing up their tasks, leaving everyone hanging including the realtors, buyers, and sellers. When they come back from vacation and review the appraisal they received BEFORE leaving, only THEN will they let everyone in on what's needed to make the appraisal and loan good. I am four weeks post the original closing date, and we are STILL waiting for these lenders to get their acts together to get this deal closed. Oh well, maybe next week we'll close, unless they ask for extension #5.

Will never work with these people again or recommend them. They refuse to speak directly to the borrowers, ask for things they already have in triplicate, and are just downright childish. Avoid them when possible!

I have worked with the folks at MFA for over 10 years as a lender. They are knowledgeable, and very courteous. It is because of MFA's program that many, many first time buyers are able to purchase homes with low down payments. They can't be blamed for a loan officer not doing their job. They have a set process and when that process is used the loans close seamlessly. I have closed many MFA loans and have no problems with any part of their loan process. It's a great program and it helps not only individual buyers but the community as well.
