Bear State Bank in Hollister, MO

Everyone at the bank is very customer oriented. They always address me by name (even in the drive through). They have answered my many questions about online banking, and have spent time with me discussing my options for other services like loans, mobile check processing, and such. A well run bank with great employees!

I had been a customer with Metropolitan National Bank (Kimberling City Bank previously) since 1999. I didn't have any negative interactions with the bank until this year. I stopped using my checking account with the bank a year or two ago and left $45 in it. Earlier this year, I got a letter from the bank stating my account had been closed due to a zero balance. I called and asked what happened, and the manager of the Hollister branch explained that they supposedly sent me a letter (I didn't receive it) stating that my account had a low balance and that they had been charging me a $10 fee per month until my account got to zero, and they closed it. This is the kind of nonsense that will really tick off customers, as it did with me. I asked the manager if she would at least reopen my account and return the balance, but she claimed she could only give a certain amount of refunds in a time period and couldn't do it. Well, if the bank is not willing to take care of a very frustrated customer, then I will not do business with the bank in the future, and I will let others know how the bank treated a longtime customer. Just be aware this can happen, and this bank will do it to you.
