Members Cooperative Credit Union - Spirit Valley in Duluth, MN

This bank is horrible. The first time I had an account with them, they gave me a debit card that, for whatever reason, could not be used as a debit card. I'm not even sure why they issued it to me if I couldn't use it. They couldn't give me a new card until Monday, and I was fed up with them so I closed my account. I went back to them a year later, and now my card won't work in some places because (as they told me) they've updated their systems and are waiting for merchants to do the same...this explanation makes no sense. I've had nothing but bad experiences here.

Poor organization, and poor listening skills. One month they told me that even though I had been paying on the mortgage early, I owed them a DOUBLE payment for the month I was paying. (I was paying a little more in the same check early sometimes to have more spending money at xmas time...that didn't happen, thank you mccu. This happened in MORE THAN ONE YEAR, with me pointing out what I was doing...in MORE than one location) Another time, paid with a card as I didn't have a check on me and told them I'd come back that day if it were to be a problem. They said that it'd be No problem...I guess they think that huge fees from both them and my bank for paying that way are NO PROBLEM!! No problem for them, I suppose.... I didn't, (because of time restraints) want to make the time for sifting through thier mistake by sitting down with an "expert" on that one, so that's on me..lesson learned. They want the image of a small bank, but in reality use all the same practices that skate, what I consider, the unethical lines of what big banks use to put out thier local customers to maximize their bottom line.

This is the WORST credit union/bank in town. The staff is rude, they don't lend at a fair interest rate, they prey on those with poor credit. They are absolutely for profit, their tag line is complete BS. You can't do anything without some fee or another, your password needs to be about 47 characters long and changed what seems like monthly, it's really not a well run business. I have accounts at US Bank and Affinity Plus Credit Union as well, I seriously can't explain how much better Affinity is than MCCU, GO TO AFFINITY, trust me.
