AWFUL customer service. TCF in general is awful. I called to complain and my call was terminated because the guy at the call center said he could not put up with me saying such horrible things about a bank that "went out of it's way" to fix my problem. Went out of it's way?? Try charging me $80 and a customer service team that could not tell me for sure if I would be charged or not so I had to wait until the charge hit my account. Poorly trained. Ill informed. They walk around like zombies. Not friendly. They hate their jobs and it shows. Can't even inform their customers of fees. I had to wait around for an hour for them to call downtown Minneapolis to find the answer - guess what? They still couldn't properly answer my questions. I never use this account and only opened it so I could cash checks locally since my REAL bank is in Fargo-Moorhead. I stay loyal to my bank in Moorhead because they go above and beyond to make sure their customer is happy. This includes good customer service. If I make a mistake, I own up to it, but TCF is out to nickle and dime their customers and couldn't care less about their satisfaction. When I left the bank after "sorting out" this incident, my balance was zero. Only to look a month later to see that they had charged me $38 for an NSF fee. MY BALANCE WAS ZERO. The fee hit my account the next day and the tellers could not even tell me if there was going to be a fee or not. I wanted to close my account that day but was told I couldn't because they needed to wait to see if a fee would hit. WHAT? Right. They are clueless...even AFTER calling their managers at another bank to try to find the answer. At every other bank I have been to, they would have forgiven that fee, especially since they had already charged me once for the same check. It's called good customer service. I didn't dispute the first charge - I made the mistake. The second charge is BS. Closing my account ASAP and finding a different bank in the Twin Cities. If they could have just told me that day there would be a charge, this wouldn't have been as big of an issue since that's all I wanted to know to begin with. Again - POORLY TRAINED, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE EMPLOYEES (who I'm sure are very nice people) OBVIOUSLY HATE THEIR JOBS. UGH!

Be aware! My parent with not good English language try to take cash from their debit card and the bank worker with the manager tried to chit them and get their money!
