Extra Credit Union in Warren, MI

This credit union sucks! Wish I could give a zero rating.

Customer service is great but trying to get a pre approval for a mortgage here is a joke. "Dan the mortgage man" is the only thing "stopping them from lending to you". After submitting an online form for pre approval, which tells you that you should be contacted within 24 hours, 3 weeks later and haven't heard anything. Of course, this is even after calling multiple times, having a phone meeting scheduled with Dan and him not calling us back, and even leaving him multiple voicemails letting him know that this is an awful way to treat credit union members, and that if we don't hear back from him we would seriously need to think about banking elsewhere. Still nothing. Extra Credit Union needs to seriously think about improving their mortgage department, especially now when you can walk into a bank or submit an online form and get pre approved the same day, not still waiting 3 weeks later for someone to call you back.

I had a great experience at the credit union. I was looking to consolidate all my debt into one payment. All the other credit unions and Banks denied my request just making excuses to not help me. I applied at extra credit after hearing an ad on the radio. I was working with Amanda who is amazing and was able to eliminate all my debt and lower my payment into one. She is courteous and very rapid with responses. Will deal with them again.

They gave me a debt consolidation loan when no one else would. They worked with my bruised credit (I've got to start somewhere to rebuild it). They didn't give quite what I was asking for but, what I was given was reasonable. My only qualm is that the staff seems a bit overwhelmed regarding communications. Be prepared to call/email multiple times if you need to contact them. If you're calling be prepared to be on hold for a while. Besides this (it's not the staff's fault there isn't enough of them for the volume of customers), I have no qualms. I recommend Extra Credit Union!

We have been members of Extra Credit Union for over twenty five years, and have witnessed her growth through her transition periods, from Warren Schools credit union to Metro Credit Union and currently Extra Credit Union. Our experience with a credit union is much more personable than a bank! We are proud to be not only a member, but treated like a family member. We love the customer service and individual attention each branch provides, but our quaint, intimate Sterling Heights office is superb!
