Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union in Sterling Heights, MI

This credit union has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I had to call them twice to get a problem with my account figured out and when I called back the second time the receptionist replied very rudely "I already gave you that extention number". Well excuse me but I can't find the piece of paper that I wrote it down on...if the receptionist can't handle pushing a few buttons to put my call thru to the correct person then she needs to find a new job. I left messages and voicemails and never recieved a phone call back. This is not the first time I've experienced bad attitudes with this place, it's happened on several occassions. I even went as far as trying to speak with the branch manager and I was told they are not available every time. They don't care about their members at all and treat you like you are nothing but a pesky problem. I think all their employees should take a class in customer service. However it wasn't always this bad, before they merged with another credit union, they had great customer service. I used to tell everybody to come here, now I wouldn't refer my worst enemy to this place. I have closed all my accounts with them and switched to USAA. It's a bank, not a credit a union and well I've never been happier. USAA customer service is amazing! They are always friendly, they call you back, I found cheaper car insurance with them and their rates are really good, also you earn interest on your checking account not just savings accounts. You don't earn interest on your checking account with this credit union. Also with USAA they show their loan rates according credit score, so if you know you have a good, fair or poor credit score you can see the interest rate you will probably get. They also have financial advisors that will help you create a budget, show you where most of your money is going and where to cut expenses. I can't say enough good things about USAA. I recommend USAA to all military families, you don't have to be active duty to be a part of them, just as long as you served. I have also mailed out letters to the board members to let them know of the growing problem they have on their hands. Do some research before choosing this credit union. If you don't mind be treated like trash then this is the place for you.
