Community Choice Credit Union in Redford Charter Township, MI

Sure, I can walk in and make a deposit after work at midnight at the ATM. Yes, I can easily log onto the website and look at the transaction history for my account. You bet, they did in fact give me a credit card. Know what else they'll do? Come up with some new scheme to steal your money every few months. Points system? What the hell. Didn't use Bill Pay? Odd, I don't remember signing up for that in the first place. Go elsewhere.

Great credit union, horrible management & turn around w/ employees.

Quick review: I have had a great experience with this credit union in the last 4 years that I have been a member. Finding an ATM has never been a problem. I get paid for doing business with them. Their customer service has always been great. Detailed review with a couple examples: They have a rewards program where I get paid $9/mo just for having different items with them (savings account, checking account, mobile app, etc.) I have never been charged for anything that wasn't made abundantly clear (in response to the Google user review from 5 years ago as of 1/16/16). You do get charged an ATM fee unless you use an out-of-network ATM, but this is fairly standard anywhere. You can use any ATM with a credit union co-op symbol, which is most credit unions (if not all, I'm not sure) and ATMs at any 7/11 (at least in Michigan, and I used one in New York, NY free of charge). Their mobile app offers a feature for locating these ATMs and they have been very conveniently located whenever I've needed to find one (always within a 5 minute drive in the Detroit Metro area). I also went on a study abroad trip over the summer of 2015. The group had been advised to use Bank of America because of their "great" foreign transaction rate of 3%. I used my Community Choice debit card while in Hangzhou and was only charged 1% plus the standard ATM fee ($2.75 I think). The bottom line is that compared to my previous experiences with banks, this Credit Union is hands-down the better choice based in their services, rewards program, and loan rates. This is because credit unions are actually constantly working for their members (they are non-profits, in contrast to banks which seek to maximize profit). The biggest influence people can have is based on where they decide to spend their money, and switching from a bank to any credit union is a great place to start.

I have had multiple accounts with them for years. Very happy with the customer service. E-banking is updated every 15 minutes and I can speak with an actual human almost any hour of any day and they are very helpful in resolving any possible issues and answering questions.
