TCF Bank in Ann Arbor, MI

The branch manager outright lied to me about what fees I would be charged, then apologized for being wrong, but refused to forgive any of the fees.

Terrible Bank. The worst in customer service. They use the free checking model to prey on unsuspecting people like the poor and college students and then crush them with ridiculous fees. On the plus side, they do have a machine that will count your change. This location seems to be the worst in Ann Arbor.

Never use them!!!

I am glad that the University of Michigan dumped them as the U of M bank. I think the word I would use to describe funneling irresponsible college Freshmen into their Free Checking Account program as unfortunately predatory. I would advise banking elsewhere,

Wish I could give them no stars. TCF is the worst bank ever, left them a long time ago, they cheat and steal from their customers, everyone I have talked to has said nothing but bad things about them. The major complaint I have heard about them is their overdraft fees and them changing their rules about available funds. You get a direct deposit from your employer and you have to wait until it clears, sometime it took a week, and if you use your bank card you got a overdraft fee for each transaction if you spend your money before it cleared. After your money cleared they would take all those over draft fees from your cleared deposit, all with out letting you know, took about $400 from me. They never informed me an a lot of their customers about their change in available funds policy.
