I don’t shop at pawn shops. Been there, done that. Their prices are just as high as regular stores, and the merchandise is usually crap. Anyway, my girlfriend, at that time, wanted a ring she saw at First Cash Pawn on 33rd street. I was reluctant, but I wanted to please her so I went along. She picked out her ring, and I saw a watch I liked, so I put them both on layaway. A week or so later, girlfriend and I split up. No need for the ring. So, I wanted to cancel the ring and just get the watch. When I got there, the salesman, same man that helped me the first time, was about to give me a refund and credit the watch, and this ugly black woman in the back loudly clears her throat. The salesman then says, oh I can’t get a refund, and that I have to purchase the ring in full. I asked why? He says, she won’t let me because I’m not buying the ring. I explained, I will buy the watch, but don’t need the ring anymore. There was a lot of eye cutting, and peeking back & forth between the salesman and the ugly black woman. I again tried to explain, I’m not here to completely back out of the deal. I will gladly buy the watch. I just don’t need the ring anymore. He goes over to her, they whisper, then comes back and tells me he can only sell me the watch if I pay the full $125 purchase price. I asked what about my original $60 deposit? He tells me that she said that my deposit goes towards restocking the ring, and I would have to pay the full price for the watch. That was bullshit. They just took my money. Needless to say, I didn’t buy the watch. They will not get anymore of my money. Don’t ever go to a pawn shop to buy something. You will regret it. It’s a waste of time and money. 98% of the stuff they sell is used, and about to break. I use to buy stuff from pawn shops. That’s how I know not to go there. They are rude and unprofessional. You can buy “brand new stuff” for what you pay at a pawn shop. You also get a warranty, or guarantee, and you can usually get your money back if you change your mind. Not at pawn shops. Trust me, don’t waste your time or money. Go to a real store.
