Review Rockford Career College

College is what you make of it no matter where you attend. RCC gave me a solid education in Medical Assisting. I graduated with high honors and I made a great impression at my externship site, securing a letter of recommendation and a job offer. I then worked in the industry for 7 years in the same company. I also started out in the transcription program and when it was discontinued, was directed into the MA program. This was way back in 2004. Back then, it is true that there were no options to transfer into nursing programs with full credits. HOWEVER, now in 2017 there are MANY options available for grads with credits from RCC. There are many online and private colleges that have nursing programs that will accept many of your transferable credits now. I suggest the previous reviewer look back into this, if this is still a dream for her. The educational possibilities that exist now did not exist 10 years ago. Regardless, I was also accepted into the nursing program at Rockford University back in 2008 or 2009, with 2 scholarships and many of my credits transferring. College is what you make it and even though this is private instead of public, RCC can work if you make it work. I wasn't able to attend RVC because they wouldn't let me in at age 27 after I failed ONE class back when I was 18 and irresponsible. RCC made my college degree dreams possible.

I got the education that I worked for but like so many others when I started and throughout my two years there is was repeatedly told that my credits would be transferable to colleges for nursing programs as soon as they were done with the negotiations with them. This has never happened. I was a year into my degree for an A.A.S. in medical transcription when they had decided to discontinue that degree program and inform us that we would have to choose another. I went for the Medical Assisting with promise of transferable credits for a Nursing degree in the future and this did not happen and now I am 25k in debt with no way to transfer and continue my education without starting from scratch. If there is a lawsuit against them I have not been informed and would like to know about this. Please do yourself a favor and research and find a college that will allow you to continue your education without starting over and giving you empty promises and lies.

RCC's Paralegal Program is an excellent program. The Program director and teachers are phenomenal. Choosing RCC is one of the best decision I could have made for myself. If you are willing to put forth the effort and work hard RCC is for you. What you get out of the program is exactly what you put into it. I still keep in touch with the program director, former students and teachers.

Academic nightmare for any night classes due to a lack of honesty from administrations. Transferring credits, actual class days/times, classroom requirements/workload, internship information, and a general consistency in the class room is all greatly miss-construed and found lacking for both honesty and organization. This resulted in me having to switch my day job several times during the course of my education to accommodate for when classes actually were, how much time the homework really required of you, and then again when internships came around (would have been nice to know that I would have to quite my day job to work as an un-paid intern for XXhrs a week when I signed up). Stopping my 'normal' day job was of course the main goal of going to school for a new career but not with two weeks notice right before the final semester. The night class students miss out on may of the enjoyable things that the day classes have (breaks, food, occasional socials etc) There is a good amount of forced volunteering that happens during class time where you are "asked" to go help with some school function instead of being able to be taught the material or have time to take your tests etc. Most teachers are really quite nice but they are only trade teachers meaning they don't actually know how to teach, or answer complicated questions. Some days you can use notes and some you can't, it seems to be the teacher's whim as to when you can or can't. Their online study/submissions shell often has complications. However all of this can still result in receiving your desired degree. Its nothing that someone cannot work through but in the end had I known this I would have quickly run to any other school instead.

Attending Rockford Career College for the Paralegal program was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. From the moment I met with admissions to when I met the Program Director I felt they had my best interests in mind. As I progressed through the program, I realized that they weren't there for the money or for the numbers, but to ensure that those of us progressing through the program would have the real-world knowledge and skills to succeed in our fields. The instructors were knowledgeable, excited and crazy (in a good way). They made learning fun. My fellow students are now colleagues that I know I can count on in a pinch. Best of all, I still am in contact with the Director and Instructors who still check in from time to time to make sure everything is going well. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend RCC to anyone looking for higher education.
