Community Trust Credit Union in Gurnee, IL

Before you start your banking with them check your options carefully. don't expect a lot when it comes to loans. I have banked with them for over 2 years, all my saving 100k+, all my earning went to them. Come the time I needed a credit card, never had one before. I applied for one, they only gave a secure credit card, one that you deposit the money first, and only with $500 limit. I thought that is the way it works, and lived with that crappy card for almost a year. very difficult to use because it only rebalance every couple of days, which mean the average limit is always around $200 even if you pay for credit in advance. Accidentally went to another credit union for a business, they offered me a really unsecured credit card for $3000 once I open an account with them. I went back to CTCU and explained the situation. they said they will think about it, and kept me waiting week, after many calls, and a visit to the branch they refused even to give me $500 unsecured credit. Now moved my banking out of here. the other credit union. I am not naming it, because I am not promoting any body here. They kept their promise, and offered a car loan right away.

Terrible practices and services. I think they misconstrue local and community-based to mean amateurish and unaccessible. The other local credit unions such as Consumers and Baxter both have much better systems and services in place, so there is no reason to entertain the idea of utilizing Community Trust. Especially because most of their services are outsourced to national lenders and financial firms anyways. This place is a frustrating waste of time. Avoid!

DO NOT go to this bank. Or use this credit union. The lady Vicki that I spoke to regarding my SAVINGS account was rude. I was charged $10 for returned mail because my account did not have activity on it. With it being a SAVINGS account, activity would be minimal. I guess Ill just keep my bank in WI. If you are using this bank and looking for a different one....its worth the drive to Racine to use Landmark Credit Union. Cant ''trust'' anything about "Community Trust Credit Union."

Sadly after being a member since I could remember CTCU lost all my respect and business. They could not work with me on a loan that Baxter Credit union gave me in and approved within 1 business day. The staff at CTCU is actually very friendly and kind which is sad because they have great people working for them. However, they have a couple of reps who are horrible at follow up and are not willing to go to bat for their members. I had issues getting 4k increase from CTCU. BCU approved 20k. My rep at BCU went to bat for me and spoke with underwriting for my situation. CTCU rep told me, well we would have to go to board for approval and did nothing past that. It was a slap in the face Sucks to leave after all my time but I am now with a bank that takes care of people all the way through.

I have been a member since 1984 and they have always been great to me and my needs. Friendly and professional, and very quick on loan requests or any of my needs. I highly recommend CTCU to all my friends and family. I have never had a bad experience with them. They are the best.
