Ameris Bank in Lake City, FL

Simply the most inept bank I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with, hands down. And thanks to Bank of America for selling us out to these numbskulls. The transition from Bank of America was horrible, resulting in bank shut-downs and disabled ATMs for days at a time. Since the transition, their ATMs have been unpredictably out of service for a good portion of the time. Their customer service is terrible - they refused to credit my account for 3rd party ATM fees billed during the transition when I had no other way to access my own money. Their banking plan descriptions and fees are vague and misleading on purpose, and then they have the gall to process overnight debits before credits in order to collect overdrafts. Recently, the main branch on Hwy 90 lost power, resulting in a shut-down of all banking services there, including all three ATMs, disabling my ability to make a deposit on my way to work, forcing me to wait until 11:00 pm when I got off work and they had power back (I could not travel to the secondary branch earlier without being late to work). My call to customer service landed me an insulting explanation, but no true offer of help, save the "mobile banking" option in which check deposits can take DAYS to post. NO THANKS. The next morning they deducted a pending check prior to my deposit, resulting in an overdraft. Further still, monthly "maintenance" fees of various amounts keep cropping up in my statements where there weren't any before with my Bank of America account, of which customer service, again, cannot do anything. They either can't, or won't credit me, nor can they offer me an account type better suited to my needs. I can't wait to leave them, and the time this review took me to write was well worth it, if only just to vent (since, obviously, nothing else will be accomplished).
