Megastar Financial in Denver, CO

Megastar Financial has been the single most costly mistake I've ever made. I had an FHA mortgage at a 3.75% interest rate from 2013 I wanted to refinance to get rid of the $333 PMI I was paying every month. To refinance, I had to get a new appraisal. The appraisal came back with more than a 20% increase in my home's value. Now I know that means I could have just applied to get rid of my PMI insurance, instead of going through what was an extremely frustrating refinance with Megastar and Jim Nolte. But now I'm paying $333 MORE per month with a 4.5% interest rate for the next 30 years. Thank you so much, Jim and Megastar, for costing me not only a higher interest rate but $120K in plain old payments over the life of the loan! That would have been nice for retirement. What does this say to me? Either Jim doesn't know the mortgage industry and didn't know that this rule exists for FHA/PMI or he just wanted to make the money off my refinance, even though it was the worst advice he could give me. I am extremely disappointed in the service and it amazes me how every single month, making my mortgage payment, I can't help thinking about this huge mistake of mine.

After providing all of my financial information we were told three days before we were to close that the condominium that we were refinancing had less than 50% owner occupied units and could not be financed. This should have been an early piece of information that this company required before they got all of our financial information. Very poorly run Denver office, find another lender.
