I received a notice in the mail from Marigold Financial. According to them I was turned over to collections by a local city for some kind of vehicle citation. First of all, I have never been to this city, other than to drive through it on the freeway. Second of all, I have never owned the vehicle in question. Additionally, I have never received any kind of notice from the city regarding the alleged citation. Where did they get this information? I wanted to get to the bottom of this, so I called them. I first spoke to a Miss. Foster who explained to me that I had no recourse. She could not, and would not, give me a phone number or address of this city so I could dispute the charge. I have been a collector, and I have never heard of such an asinine response. I then asked for her supervisor, assuming he would have something other than a robotic response to a direct question. I was wrong. His name is Francisco. He only regurgitated the same standard response. What kind of collection agency can truly function without providing the people they harass with a way to clear their name or documentation proving their is a debt to collect? Oh, in Francisco defense, he did say I could Google the city on the internet. Really? That’s your answer? Let’s see how that would work. I go to my search engine of choice and type in, “Random vehicle citation from an unknown location of a vehicle I have never owned in the City of blah, blah, blah,” and magically a phone number shows up. Is that what times have come to? Has it come to collection agencies sending out notices to people regarding meaningless citations, on vehicle they have never owned? I would rather them and/or the City of blah, blah, blah send me an invoice asking for a donation. Very, very unprofessional. No stars for you!

marigold is a joke they make up amounts due when it is so false and harrassement is unbearable . we have tried to solve an issue for over 2 years now they don't listen. they are the worst company for collections and my amount was only 15.00 that I paid for and then they added 21.00 plus 11.00 it just is just a false of what I am trying to fix my credit up.

Excessively abusive collection personnel. If you are a company looking to hire a collection agency, know that Marigold Financial agents have an exceptionally hostile attituded. They have obviously become very jaded in their line of work. That can't be good for your company to have them making people feel so unnecessarily miserable. Your company is better served by finding another company to handle your late and collection accounts.

Had a balance, paid off the balance (full amount, not a settlement) the agreement was that it would be removed from my credit report. They never updated anything, it's been 9 months. Had to despute it with all three credit agencies and it still wasn't removed. And they are basically telling me too bad its my problem. I understand it's a collection but I held up my end of the agreement. A letter saying that it's paid off is worthless when your try to buy a home. And that's all they keep emailing me... the same letter, but won't update the credit reporting.

If there were a negative star option, I would have selected this. My senior-citizen mother received a call from Jim Hunter. He was horrid and it was nothing short of harassment! He did not allow my mother to speak. He was threatening and screamed at her. We called back and Jim Hunter screamed at me and spoke over my mother again and did not allow her to speak or be heard. We called back a 3rd time and spoke to an office assistant, who was reasonable to find out more information. It turns out it was ONLY for a health care $20 balance that she did not even know existed as she expected her medical insurance to cover it. If she would have received a statement, she would've paid. She was ready and willing to pay and only needed more information, if only the collector provided more information. Needless to say, this is a small collecting agency that clearly lacks a code of ethics and professionalism on many levels. I wonder about the extent to which they may have violated their legal conduct obligations as collectors. If you are a business considering using them as a collecting agency, I would urge you to investigate their practices and determine if this is the type of agency to serve as an extension of yours.
