John was our mortgage broker for the purchase of our first home, and I feel truly lucky to have had his guidance and expertise. People have always told us how stressful the mortgage process is. I've heard it so many times that I just assumed that was the way it had to be. Not so with John. From the day we told him we were thinking of purchasing a house, he partnered with us on that journey. He was a true financial advisor, explaining to us the options that would work best for us (as opposed to pushing on us those that what worked best for him). He listened to our needs, identified our situation and provided his expert opinion all along the way. His service level throughout was superb (he did a lot of hand-holding, which both my wife and I needed at times along the way). John made sure we knew exactly what was going on at all times, and it was obvious he knows his business. At the end of it all, we got a great mortgage without any of the pain and stress I expected. John is a true pro, and I would recommend him highly to anyone looking at their financing options.

Buying a home is a stressful experience. In our case, distance and circumstance greatly exacerbated our stress. We have to manage the details of selling, moving from and downsizing from a home 1850 miles away that we lived in for thirty-six years. What we did not need was unnecessary stress in the loan acquisition or the closing processes. What we got was John Glynn, loan broker extraordinaire, a magician at mitigating stress. On a professional level, John guided us through an analysis of our needs, circumstances and desires to a loan product best suited to us. In the selection process, he repeatedly put our interests first. The result was a product tailored to our needs at the best available rate. John kept us constantly informed through the approval process, holding our hands and giving reassurance to the point of e-mailing us several times some days even as he and his wife were having their third child. He continued to keep us completely informed throughout closing, which he accelerated in respect of our need to return to Iowa to sell our house. Among the reasons John is so good at his job are his obvious intelligence and his exceptional communication skills. He clearly genuinely cares about his clients. He cuts through the boilerplate and the mumbo-jumbo to provide easily understood information that facilitates decisions and insight into the processes. On a personal level, John was fantastic to work with. After our first visit my wife and I looked at each other and agreed, "What a nice young man." We really enjoyed every moment we spent with him and chose to drive to his office to meet with him personally at each stage. To have worked with John through some technological medium would have been our great loss. My Dad used to point out to me regarding doctors, lawyers, bankers, mechanics, floor installers, etc., that he was not hiring his best friend. I got his point: Hire the expertise. Hire the outcome. You don't have to like them. I never agreed with him. I want the whole package. The expertise, the best outcome possible and the pleasant friendship. With John, we got the whole package. Those who only want an impersonal mechanic who is merely competent and is processing your number while anticipating the next really should find a different broker and leave John Glynn available for those seeking a loan broker extraordinaire. I once wrote in a college recommendation for one of my students that my highest praise was I would be proud to call him my son. We would be proud to call John Glynn our son.

We just learned that the Consumer Federal Bureau sued RPM mortgage (with whom La Salle financial works), because they were rewarding brokers like John Glynn for selling borrowers like us higher interest rate loans than they qualified for. We got a cash settlement from RPM because John Glynn sold us out.

John has been my broker for several loans and has always performed with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism. I was initially referred to John by a very close and trusted friend. From our first conversation I knew why my friend was so confident about this referral. John took the time to get to know me as a person, not just a commission. He was very patient with all of my questions and always treated me with respect. He has always been honest and straight forward with me, explaining every step of the process. I recently found out about a law suit against a company he had been affiliated with. The charges were pretty serious and worrisome. I called John for an explanation and he clarified the matter and explained details in terms I could understand. Most importantly, he reassured me without getting defensive or trying to dismiss my concern. I know the mortgage business is very competitive, and I have always had the option of shopping around, or using one of those giant organizations that does high volume loans for cheap. In the long run, I'm probably getting the same or better deals with John, but I'm also getting a much more personal experience with someone who I know has my best interest in mind...not to mention the birthday and holiday cards every year! Thanks, John, for everything. My wife and I will be buying our next house soon, so expect to get a call from me when we do!
