Complete incompetence, they took 29 days to book my loan because the dealer gave them the wrong address. They couldn't get the address right either. The loan was book a day before the first payment so I had to go in pay in person but they were kind enough to collect interest for the full month even when they didn't book the loan. Gunn has an inside deal with them, gunn gets 1% of the interest and they push you there when other credit unions, like first mark have lower rates and are open to the public and also local. A high level employee at Gunn is on sacu's board of directors. I feel cheated by both, seems highly unethical.

Every time I travel out of Texas or even purchase something online, my card comes back as declined and then the entire account becomes disabled. At that point, I have to call the fraud department and stay on hold for a long time. The problem is that they have a long (growing) list of restricted states and if you travel there, you have to let SACU know ahead of time or else they lock up your account and it comes back as declined. To make matters worse, if you try to make a purchase online, it is up to you to track down where the online company is located, because if you purchase something online and the retailer is located in a restricted state, your account will be disabled and the transaction will show up as declined. When you are on the phone with customer service, they will tell you that they are doing you a favor and that it is because of your security, but really it is for their security. If someone were to steal your money, you could file a claim and get that money reimbursed, so they are protecting themselves. Even if these inconvenient restrictions are for your security, I am not interested in asking SACU permission to use MY MONEY every single time that I buy something !! SACU's state restrictions are the deal breaker for me.

Best bank I've seen by far. Left my old institution for this one. Very convenient.

They give great rates, great service and have great hours. Easily to work with on a car loan.
