Review PrimeWest Mortgage

K Laggoner | 2014-02-28 07:46:40
Prime West pulled our credit report 8 times in a two month period, 7 of those in the first two weeks, which lowered our credit score 20 points. The short version is, we had a terrible experience, after two months of getting the run-around, we were told by a real-estate agent to go to SouthWestBank, which we did, and we were approved and made an offer on the house in the same day. We are now closing on the 22nd of April. We were looking for houses in the $140,000 range and were trying to decide between a new build, or an existing home and we were referred to Prime West Mortgage by Betenbough builders, who said that they(Prime West) would lower their fees if we decided to go with a new build. We talked to Gary Henry, who made a lot of promises, but stopped returning phone calls suddenly. When we finally got ahold of him, he said we needed to wait a few more months. We felt confused so we called the main office of Prime West and explained our situation. I asked for a supervisor and apparently the woman who spoke to me was not actually a supervisor, but said she was as we found out later. She said they had someone new, but had a lot of years of experience, Zeke Patton. He was very nice and explained a lot of information the day we met with him which was on a Thursday, he said he would get back to us and if we didn't hear from him the following Tuesday to call. I thought it was a little odd since, customer service is usually that he remember to call, but we didn't let it bother us. Tuesday came and went and because he said to call if we didn't hear from him, we called him. He returned our call two days later and apologized and said he was really busy with other people, which is understandable, but all we could really hear was, we were not important and neither was our business. After he called us back, he emailed a mock sheet of figures based on the loan amount we were requesting and because we had found a house that we wanted to make an offer on, we called later that day to ask for a letter of approval and we didn't hear from him again. Three days passed and we finally decided to speak to another supervisor. We told her our concerns that if we continued our business with Prime West, we felt like we would get lost in the shuffle and that could affect our closing date, incorrect paperwork, and maybe even interest rate. We spoke to Allen who said she was the highest person to speak to next to the president of the mortgage company and when I expressed my concerns she asked if I would like her to get us in touch with another lender. I was appalled and told her I felt like what she was saying was that we basically needed to go somewhere else and wasn't interested in our business. She said that it was obvious that we were not having a good experience and if we wanted to we should go somewhere else. I told her I wanted copies of our credit report, which is required that they give you one, but we did not get one from Zeke, or Gary. She said she would have Zeke call and she would be in the office when he did. Zeke called an hour later, whether, or not she was in the room, I don't know because she never said she was there. Zeke was rude, he didn't apologize for his lack of communication, but said that he was busy working for other people and that if we went to another bank, they would not be able to count all our income as he was trying to do. I told him to stop working on our file and even though I normally do not hang up on people, I was so frustrated, I did. When we went to South West Bank, they told us that when a company pulls a credit report it is valid for 90 days and Prime West pulled our credit report 8 times in a two month period, 7 of those in the first two weeks, which lowered our credit score 20 points and will affect our interest rate unless we wait a few months for it to go back up. I felt that I needed to write this review for people trying to get into a home and are having trouble with Prime West. They are terrible and they are dishonest. I would recommend that you go somewhere else.

My Wife and i are first time home buyers and we had no clue what we were in for while looking for someone to help us finance our first mortgarge. My awesome Remax agent, David Denny, suggested and also introduced us to our Mortgage Loan Officer, Zeke Patton. He, with his wealth of knowledge, helped us step by step and explained everything we could ever have needed to know. From our first pre-approval amount even to the day we signed our new note he was by our side. Zeke Patton was very friendly and professional and did everything to meet our needs. He made our whole visit to Prime West Mortgage a Great expirence. So if anyone is looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer we would Highly recommend ZEKE PATTON at Prime West Mortgage.

Worked with Zeke Patton. This is the second time I have worked with him and I'm impressed by the responsiveness and accuracy of him and the team behind him. His estimate was correct to the penny, and he would inform me of any changes to it and why. He is honest, he dropped the ball and we closed a day later on the 28th instead of the 27th, but he admitted to it and didn't blame anyone else. I was happy nonetheless, because in the beginning I only asked to close by the end of the month.

Lets just say if I could afford it I would buy another house just to work with Gary again! He did an outstanding job from start to finish. I would definitely recommend Prime West Mortgage to anyone and everyone interested in purchasing a home.

Prime West and all their people are the best--trustworthy, informed, professional--I would highly recommend them for mortgage services. I used Prime West to re-finance my personal home and had a wonderful experience. Gary Henry handled all the details and made the whole process seem easy. At the time I re-financed, the interest rates were moving around a little bit from day to day, making me nervous. Gary was very helpful in his advice about whether to "lock in" and commit to a rate or to hold out for a possible 1/8% or 1/4% drop. He explained that I was taking a risk in the rate moving up as well as down. I was more comfortable locking in and knowing exactly what my rate would be, even if there was a chance the rate might drop a little before closing the loan. Gary and his staff have a great system for helping coordinate the necessary paperwork, ordering the appraisal and communicating with the title company--they kept me informed at each step and I felt I was in control. The loan closed on time and Prime West on-line services help me keep up with my payments and loan balance.
