I cancelled Bright House (well, it says Spectrum) after moving away back in early September 2016, making sure I covered every fee (I can afford to, I know not everyone can). It is now mid January 2017 and I have a debt collecter notice for $25 for the month of December. I contacted them and my account has been deactived since September. Tell me, how is it possible that I don't owe for Oct and Nov but I have a mysterious charge for December? With a deactived account? On an empty lot? How, "Spectrum"?

I paid off my debt, and instead of putting it as paid on my credit report they reported it as a late payment and made it go down even further?! so mad at this poor managed company. It should really be illegal to screw people over the way they do.

Just received a collection notice addressed to "Gentlemen" at my address. No first name, no last name, just Gentlemen. It says that there is a debt of $782.25. To a company that does not do business in this state at all. Think about this for a minute.....is anyone going to do business with "Gentlemen"? Perhaps I should go start a whole new life based on how easy it is to start an account with someone. Please people, look carefully at that comes in the mail, before you go try to get yourself out of debt with a collection company. If you really do owe, at least try to contact the people you owe money to before you accept the terms of a collection agency

Paid an old cox account that was sent to collections and they have no record of me paying it. I have my confirmation number and transaction on my statement that explicitly lists Credit Protection Association as the party who received my payment. I've been transferred to supervisors and their accounting department for just about a month now and they have yet to resolve this issue. With all their negative reviews it's amazing this business is still functional.

This company got fined last year for $72,000 for bad business practices by the Federal Trade Commission. I urge you to file a formal complaint like I did so the government knows how shady they continue to be! Consumers have rights and there are rules to follow! This company continues their shady operations from what ive read in all of these posts?! This company settled rather than get sued by the US government. The FTC alleged that this company violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act's rules. They are showing I have a collection with Bright House which has been paid, yet showing OPEN COLLECTION on my file. I was declined a credit card because of it and i may sue them for damages! Please fill out the complaint form on these shady mofos so they don't get away with continuing to harrass and operate in this horrendous fashion. Just google the Federal Trade Commission and follow the steps to lodge the complaint. You're helping out everyone who came before and after you if you do!
